2020 Graduation Video Ceremony and Graduate Parade
On Friday, May 29th, Independent School District 518 will be hosting a digital graduation ceremony for the class of 2020. This ceremony will include a commencement video beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the ISD 518 Facebook page followed by a vehicle parade. The parade will include the ISD 518 class of 2020 escorted by the Worthington Police Department. The route begins at Prairie Elementary and ends at Worthington High School, passing all ISD 518 facilities and circling Lake Okabena on the way. Seniors and their parents/guardians are to begin lining up in their vehicles at 6:45 p.m. at Prairie Elementary.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on May 29th, a commencement video celebrating the class of 2020 will be available on the ISD 518 Facebook page. This video will remain available for viewing on the Facebook page. In addition to the Facebook page and a link from the ISD 518 website, RadioWorks will have the video available on all web and social outlets and The Globe will feature the video on their website. This video will include traditional elements of a graduation ceremony such as speeches from ISD 518 administration and students from the graduating class of 2020.
Members of the graduating class of 2020 and their parents/guardians are encouraged to participate in a parade through Worthington following the commencement video. Seniors and their families may begin to line up in their vehicles at Prairie Elementary beginning at 6:45 p.m. on May 29th. District 518 asks that parents/guardians drive the vehicles so that seniors may safely look around the route and appreciate the community members celebrating their graduation. Please limit vehicle occupants to one senior and their family per vehicle. Please remain in your vehicle at all times before, during, and after the parade.
Seniors are encouraged to wear their graduation regalia including cap and gown for the parade. Memorabilia including diploma cover, flower, and commencement program will be given to students during the car parade. Plans are underway for official diploma distribution during the week of June 1st. Further details on diploma distribution will be released in the coming days.
The parade route begins at Prairie Elementary, goes west on 1st Avenue, north on Crailsheim (passing the Learning Center and Worthington Middle School), east on Oxford Street, south on Park Avenue, around Lake Okabena, north on Tower Street, east on Clary (passing West Learning Center), and ends after passing Worthington High School. The parade will be escorted by the Worthington Police Department. Community members are welcome to observe the Class of 2020 parade as they travel through Worthington.
