HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES
The health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority.  When the 2020-2021 school year starts using a hybrid model, we will be prepared to follow the following Minnesota Department of Health safety guidelines:
·     All students, staff, and visitors are required to wear face coverings in district buildings and on buses.
·     Social distancing will be implemented to the fullest extent possible.
·     Large gatherings or other assemblies before or after school will be avoided.
·     Frequently touched surfaces will be sanitized and disinfected frequently following an enhanced cleaning schedule.
·     Hand sanitizer will be provided at entrances, cafeterias, and other areas throughout district facilities.
·       Frequent and effective hand washing will be taught and encouraged along with other good hygiene habits.

MASKS REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS, STAFF, AND VISITORS IN ISD 518 FACILITIES
ISD 518 will be implementing practices following Executive Order 20-81 by Governor Tim Walz requiring staff and students to utilize face coverings when in district facilities. Families are asked to supply masks for ISD 518 students when in ISD 518 buildings.

This face covering requirement is one of
the many tools that ISD 518 will be using to keep students, staff, and the entire District 518 community healthy. Other practices including a self-screening process for all students, staff, and visitors entering ISD 518 facilities, limiting visitors to ISD 518 facilities, and enhanced cleaning and disinfection practices.

According to Governor Walz’s mandate, face coverings are required for all indoor public settings in Minnesota. There are exceptions to this rule for anyone with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that makes it unreasonable for the individual to maintain a face covering.

Also included in these exceptions are special scenarios for school staff. This includes the flexibility for district staff to wear face shields instead of face covering masks so that facial expressions and lip movements may be more visible for the purpose of education.

The above information is a preview of ISD’s full Return to Education Plan which will be released on August 14th, 2020.
