Vision Statement

We will increase student achievement and accountability by providing District 518 staff with resources to implement differentiated instruction, systemic interventions, enrichments, and K-12 curricular alignment, based on research and data.

Purpose

Our purpose is to provide curricular leadership and support to teachers across the district to ensure students receive quality learning experiences that contribute to academic achievement that is aligned with District 518 goals.

The District Curriculum & Instruction (DCI) Committee is composed of teacher leaders, administrators, school board members, and a community member.  The mission of this team, as well as each department’s Curriculum & Instruction leadership team, is to monitor and support standards embedded curriculum and research-based best practice instruction to reach District 518 learning goals.

Local Literacy Plan

Per the Minnesota Department of Education, all Minnesota districts and charter schools are required to annually submit a local literacy plan to MDE, and data on student performance in kindergarten, grade 1, 2 and 3 on foundational reading skills including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency and oral language; students who demonstrate characteristics of dyslexia; and students in grades 4 to 12 who are identified as not reading at grade level Minn. Stat. 120B.12, subd. 4a (2023).
