Communication Arts
At ISD 518’s Learning Center, the Communication Arts Department is dedicated to fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. Our goal is to empower students with the skills necessary to become thoughtful readers, effective writers, and engaged global citizens.
Through the study of literature, we explore diverse voices, cultures, and historical perspectives, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. Our curriculum includes classic and contemporary works from a variety of genres, equipping students with the knowledge of the stories that have shaped and continue to shape societies across the globe.
Writing is at the heart of our program. We guide students in developing their ability to express ideas clearly, creatively, and persuasively. From analytical essays to creative storytelling, research projects to personal reflections, our courses challenge students to refine their writing skills and discover their unique voices.
Beyond reading and writing, our department emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and collaboration—essential skills for success in both academic and professional settings. Whether students are analyzing a novel, debating a theme, or crafting a compelling argument, they engage in meaningful discussions that enhance their ability to interpret and articulate complex ideas.
We invite students to immerse themselves in the power of words, to find inspiration in literature, and to cultivate the skills that will serve them for a lifetime. The Communication Arts Department is more than just a place for learning—it is a gateway to understanding, expression, and discovery.
