1st Grade

First grade is a time for learning many new concepts. In reading and writing, we learn how to read sight words, sentences and stories. We also learn to spell words and write our own sentences correctly. Math is filled with many new concepts. We learn to add and subtract to 20, learn to count money and tell time, and learn to read graphs. In science we learn about states of matter, rocks and minerals, weather, animals, and life cycles. In social studies we learn about the areas that we live in, families, our government, wants and needs, and history. There is a lot to learn in first grade.
