About Our Art Teacher
Mrs. Knips
My name is Mrs. Knips and I am the art teacher at Prairie Elementary. I grew up going to school at Hills-Beaver Creek and got my bachelor’s degree in K-12 art education at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA along with my coaching endorsement. My teaching career started in 2009 in Sioux Falls, SD teaching K-5 art for 6 years before getting married to my husband Tom and moving to Minnesota. In 2015, I started teaching art in Worthington at the ALC and Middle School. I made the switch to Prairie last year and am enjoying my second year here, and my 11th year teaching. In the Fall, I coach 7th and 8th grade volleyball at the Middle School and when our season is over, I begin teaching 3rd and 4th grade LEAP after school at Prairie and summer school when our year ends. When I am not busy with school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. The time spent is even better when it is outside and involves fishing, camping, traveling, hiking, riding horse, snowmobiling, gardening, sand volleyball and lots of coffee. I am looking forward to another great year at ISD 518!
