Q: Can my student participate in D.A.R.E. through ISD518 while enrolled in VIBE?
We talked with the officers that run D.A.R.E. and we are trying to come up with a creative way to offer it to our families who are home educating. There is no clear plan at this point but we will continue to update you as we see if it is feasible.
Q: What content areas will the different grade levels have each week?
K-3 will have four modules per week: Math, ELA, Social studies or Science, and Physical Education, or Art. 4-8 will have 5 modules per week: Math, ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Physical Education or Art. The 9-12 Program could have a schedule that varies depending on the needs they still have for graduation.
Q: Can families use funds for music tutoring or music classes?
Unfortunately, the person that can answer this question is out of the office until April 6th. I have reached out and requested that they reach back out to me. This site will be updated as we receive further direction from the state.
Q: Can families use funds for educational passes such as zoos and museums?

Q: Can students work on some school during the weekend and have it count for positive attendance for a day in the week?
Yes , Student’s attendance is taken for the five-day week. Attendance will be taken by the teacher of record based on content accessed by students throughout the week. If a student accesses each content area in through the week, they will receive full attendance.
Q: Are our students allowed to participate in sports in other districts?
Students who are enrolled in VIBE are able to participate in the sports programs in their residing district. For an example: A student enrolled in VIBE that lives in Blaine, MN will be able to play all available sports within the Blaine sport programs.
Q: Are our students allowed to participate in band, orchestra, and choir in other districts?
Students are able to participate in these activities in the residing district as long as the residing district is willing.
Q: Does my student have to participate in the “instruction part” of the module, or are we able to show proficiency without that portion of the module?
If a family chooses to teach the student the standard in their own way, they have that freedom to do so. They must submit proof of proficiency on the standard through the module assessment or portfolio model. Teachers will evaluate the submission and reward proficiency as they see fit. If a teacher states what was submitted was not enough to show proficiency, the student will have additional opportunities to show proficiency.
