Advanced Studio Arts
One or Two Terms Grades 11, 12 Elective
Prerequisite: Students taking this course must have completed Art 1 along with 3 other studio art courses such as: Art 2, Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, and/or Stained Glass. Each student must have earned a B+ or higher in the visual art classes taken prior to Advanced Studio Art in order to be considered as a candidate.
This Advanced Studio Art course provides students with an opportunity to explore individual preferences in great depth. Students will work individually with the instructor to develop a thematic body of work. Students will prepare a portfolio consisting of a minimum of 5 works of art and an artist statement. A gallery quality presentation will be the culmination to this course. Students will compete in art contests and be assisted with college application and the portfolio review process.
