Gives students a greater understanding of economics ranging from the viewpoint of the individual consumer or small business owner to the global economy. The course will study the law of supply and demand, forms of business, labor unions, government finances and influence on the economy, money and prices, inflation and deflation cycles. The course relates history and politics to the study of economics. Course concepts focus on why societies develop economic systems and identify basic features of different economic systems. Topics include integration of economic principles, such as free market economy, consumerism, and the role of American government within the economic system with entrepreneurship concepts such as marketing principles, business law, and risk. Aspects of personal finance may be included. This course will fulfill the .5 required credit for Economics.
