Minnesota West Medical Terminology / First Aid / CPR

One Term          Grades 11, 12           Elective 

Prerequisite: Biology A & B
 

Concurrent College Credit Course w/ MN West Qualifying students must: 

  • Take & meet requirements of the Accuplacer test
  • Juniors ranked in the top 1/3 of their class
  • Seniors ranked in the top 1/2 of their class

Three (3) credits of college level courses will be earned upon successful completion. 

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY (2 college credits, .5 high school elective credit) – Provides students in any of the health science disciplines or pre-professional studies with working knowledge of the terminology used in the health professions. Prerequisite: Evidence of college level reading ability through assessment test or prior college coursework.

AHA CPR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER, AED FIRST AID CERTIFICATION ( 1 college credit, .25 high school elective credit) – Covers the skills necessary for the newest AHA Guidelines for the CPR Healthcare Provider Certification as well as Certification in Automated External Defibrillation and First Aid. The provider will be able to properly and safely assess a patient, as well as how to recognize signs and symptoms and administering the appropriate treatments.
